The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
