The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
