The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
