The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
