The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
