The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
