The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
