The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
