The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
