The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
