The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
