The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
