In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
