The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
