The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
