The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
