The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
