The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
