The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
