The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
