The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
