The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
