The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
