The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
