The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
