The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
