The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
