The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
