The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
