The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
