The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
