The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
