The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
