The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
