The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
