The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
