The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
