40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
