The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
