The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
