The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
