The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
