The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
