The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
