The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
