The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
