The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
