The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
