The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
