The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
